The finnish lyric dramatic soprano Reetta Haavisto is known for her exquisitely resonant voice with its vibrant, shimmering tone.
This season in Finnish National Opera, Reetta Haavisto appeared as Gutrune in Wagner’s Götterdämmerung and made her celebrated musical debut as Carlotta in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. The next milestone in her career will be the title role in Puccini’s Tosca, set for early 2025.
In spring 2012, Reetta Haavisto made her debut at the Finnish National Opera in the role of Madama Cortese in Il viaggio a Reims. Since her stunning debut, she has appeared in several roles on the opera stage. Her major appearances include Norina in Don Paquale, Liù in Turandot, the Sister in Aulis Sallinen’s Kullervo, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Freia, Helmwige, and Gutrune from Wagner’s Ring cycle, Leonora in Il Trovatore, and Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow.
In concert performances, she has sung the Sister in Sibelius’ Kullervo and Luonnotar, the soprano solo in Verdi’s Requiem, Zemlinsky’s Lyrische Sinfonie, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony and Missa Solemnis, Klami’s Psalmus, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, and Strauss’s Vier letzte Lieder. Her discography includes Romances by Rachmaninoff and Beethoven’s concert arias and cantatas.
