Biography

Finnish lyric soprano Johanna Lehesvuori has been noted for her powerful and sensual voice, amazing coloraturas as well as for her delicate interpretation.

She made her international debut as the title role in Suor Angelica in Italy at the Teatro di san Girolamo and has also appeared in other international theaters such as Estonian National Opera, Theatre de la ville de Luxembourg, Royal Danish Opera and Tornedals Theatre. Ms. Lehesvuori made her debut in the Finnish National Opera in 2017 as Aino (Melartin: Vedenneito). Her other roles include Hanna Glavari (Die lustige Witwe), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Naiad (Ariadne auf Naxos), Meg Giry (The Phantom Of the Opera), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Violetta (La Traviata), Gilda (Rigoletto), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Mimi (La Boheme) and Nathalie (L’etoile du nord).

On the concert platform, Johanna is sought after as a sensitive and versatile artist. Her recent engagements have included a recording of Beethoven’s arias for Naxos with the Turku Philharmonic orchestra under the baton of Leif Segerstam. Johanna has also performed as a soloist with the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Vaasa Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ms. Lehesvuori received her MMus at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm studying under Christina Billing. She has successfully participated in several competitions f.e. in Nordic-Baltic Vocal Competition Tallinn (Estonia), Helsinki Lied -competition and Kangasniemi Singing Contest, Finland.
