Biography

Estonian-born mezzo-soprano Annaliisa Pillak began her vocal studies at the  Georg Ots Music School in Tallinn. She continued studying with Annika Ollinkari at the Sibelius-Academy`s vocal department from where she received her Master degree in 2007.

Her operatic roles include among others Cenerentola (La Cenerentola), Nicklausse (Les Contes d´Hoffmann), Sesto (La clemenza di Tito), Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte),  Olga (Eugen Onegin), Drajade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Maddalena (Rigoletto) and also contemporary operas Zweite Diplomate (Wallemberg by E.S.Tüür) and Brita (Sulka by T.Länsiö).
Her orchestral repertuare is wide, consisting of such works as  “Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen” by G.Mahler and  “Les nuits d`été” by H.Berlioz as well as G.Mahler`s 8th Symphony what she sang with Estonian National Symphony Orchestra in May 2007.

In concert, Ms Pillak has performed in Germany, Sweden, Norway, Italy, Finland and Estonia. She has sung concerts with the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, the Estonian National Opera Symphony Orchestra, the 21st Century Orchestra and the Orchestra of Estonian Defence Forces. She has also given numerous Lied recitals in Estonia, Finland and Germany.

Annaliisa has been awarded R.Wagner Bayreuth Scholarship for 2010.
