Biography

Olli Tuovinen started his singing studies in 1999 under Kari Wilenius. In the years 2002-2008 Tuovinen studied in the Opera Class of Sibelius Academy under the tuitilidge of Jorma Hynninen, Sauli Tiilikainen and Pekka Kähkönen. He has also taken part in the Master Classes of Matti Salminen, Martin Katz and Jeffrey Goldberg. In 2006 Tuovinen received the scholarship of Martin Wegelius fund

Olli Tuovinen debuted in The Finnish National Opera in 2008, in the role of Kilian in Der Freischütz. Since then he has appeared in The Finnish National Opera in several roles. He has also sung in various local opera performances in Finland. In 2012 Feldenkreis Festival in Austria Tuovinen sung the role of Jean in the Ilkka Kuusisto’s opera Fröken Julie. Other opera roles that Olli Tuovinen has done are e.g. Don Giovanni in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Escamillo in Bizet’s Carmen, Sid in Britten’s Albert Herring,  Kuigu-Siim in Pylkkänen’s Bathseba Saarenmaalla, Aarne in Kuusisto’s Isänmaan tyttäret, Juri in Kortekangas’s Isän Tyttö, Theo van Gogh and Paul Gauguin in Almila’s Auringon­kukat, Danilo in Lehar’s  Die lustige Witwe,  Raoul in Lloyd-Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera and Melot in Wagner’s  Tristan and Isolde.
