Biography

Finnish lyric soprano Johanna Lehesvuori has been noted for her powerful and sensual voice, amazing coloraturas as well as for her delicate interpretation. Most recently she made her international debut as the title role in Suor Angelica in Italy at the Teatro di san Girolamo. She has also appeared as Nathalie in the Kokkola Opera’s production of L’etoile du nord (Meyerbeer) in Helsinki. She made her debut in the Finnish National Opera in 2017 as Aino (Melartin: Vedenneito). Other roles include Gilda (Rigoletto), Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Mimi (La Boheme), Carolina (Il matrimonio segreto), Rosane (La verita in cimento), Brigomeide (Leviathan), Madame Silberklang (Der Schauspieldirektor), Frasquita (Carmen), Contessa di Ceprano (Rigoletto) and Meg Giry (The Phantom of the Opera).

On the concert platform, Johanna is sought after as a sensitive and versatile artist. Her recent engagements have included a recording of Beethoven’s arias for Naxos with the Turku Philharmonic orchestra under the baton of Leif Segerstam. Johanna has also performed as a soloist with the The Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and Vaasa Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ms. Lehesvuori received her MMus at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm studying under Christina Billing. She has successfully participated in several competitions f.e. in Nordic-Baltic Vocal Competition Tallinn (Estonia), Helsinki Lied -competition and Kangasniemi Singing Contest, Finland.
